Endress+Hauser has unveiled a new generation of its Micropilot radar level sensors, expanding the Swiss company’s 80GHz radar lineup for liquid and solid measurement.
The redesigned family includes upgraded FMR10B and FMR20B models and the all-new FMR30B, which introduces a colour touchscreen display to the series for the first time.
The new devices are aimed at simplifying setup and operation while improving measurement precision. According to Endress+Hauser, which has its Canadian headquarters in Burlington, Ontario, commissioning can be completed in as little as three minutes using step-by-step setup “wizards” with visual guidance. Operators can configure and monitor the sensors locally or remotely via Bluetooth using a smartphone or tablet. Bluetooth connectivity is standard on the FMR10B and optional on the FMR20B and FMR30B.
Each unit uses 80GHz radar technology to deliver higher accuracy and more stable readings by minimizing interference from tank walls, internal obstacles, and surface conditions. The compact sensors can be installed through nozzles and ball valves without antenna extensions, and their 80 mm (3-inch) antenna offers a stronger signal and measuring distance of up to 30 metres.

The FMR30B’s colour display enables on-device operation without opening the housing, while visual indicators across the lineup — LEDs or flashing displays — make it easy to identify individual devices and their operating status. Optional explosion-protection certifications are available for installations involving gas or dust hazards.
Each model integrates the company’s Heartbeat Technology, which provides continuous device verification and diagnostics.
“With Heartbeat Technology on board, the functionality of the measuring devices can be evaluated at any time,” the company announced in October. “The verification, tested to the Radar Accuracy Index (RAI), not only involves checking if the device components still comply with their original reference values, but also indicates the presence of systematic faults which could have a negative impact on device or process performance.”
Endress+Hauser says the updated Micropilot sensors maintain reliable performance even in demanding conditions such as flooding, foam, dust, or variable media densities. The company expects the new generation to serve a broad range of industries that require dependable, low-maintenance level measurement solutions.
