The Water Environment Federation (WEF) has unveiled an AI-bot to help users access specific content areas on its website.
The bot can help site users more easily locate certain information on water quality standards, stormwater management, wastewater treatment, or details about WEFTEC events.
While WEF has indicated that the website’s search function is still the best way to access the most comprehensive index of the site’s information, users may be able to use the bot to find very specific information much faster.
Some examples of the bot’s specialties so far include details on books, factsheets and conference papers stored on the Access Water website. The bot also has full text of Water Environment & Technology magazine content dating back to 2017, full text of the Stormwater Report, information about WEF leadership, membership benefits, communities and events, as well as WEFTEC.

When site users are greeted by the bot, it says, “just type your questions to me and I’ll use my artificial intelligence and the curated list of WEF resources I’ve been trained on to give you a custom response.”
