H2O Innovation Inc., headquartered in Quebec City, has announced the acquisition of bestUV, a Netherlands-based manufacturer of ultraviolet (UV) water disinfection systems serving a range of applications and markets.
bestUV operates in the Brainport Eindhoven region of the Netherlands, a hub for lighting and UV technology. The company designs, manufactures and services UV reactors for municipal, industrial and maritime applications. Its existing network of distributors and channel partners is expected to complement H2O Innovation’s global platform and support further expansion in the UV disinfection market, the companies announced earlier in May.
The acquisition adds a proprietary disinfection offering to H2O Innovation’s portfolio of water treatment technologies and is expected to expand the company’s capacity to address changing regulatory requirements and market demands.
H2O Innovation said integrating bestUV’s UV systems with its existing filtration and membrane technologies is intended to support product development and broaden service offerings.

In a statement, H2O Innovation President and Chief Executive Officer Frédéric Dugré called the acquisition a milestone for the company.
“This acquisition extends our expertise, complements our filtration and membrane solutions, and lays the foundation for a new business unit focused on disinfection,” Dugré said. “It strengthens our ability to respond to the growing global demand for advanced water reuse solutions and allows us to offer complementary treatment technologies from a single source.”
Sjors van Gaalen, managing director of bestUV, said in a statement that the company sees opportunities to scale the adoption of UV-based disinfection technologies through H2O Innovation’s global reach.
“Combining our UV expertise with H2O Innovation’s global scale will enable us to accelerate the adoption of sustainable, chemical-free disinfection solutions worldwide,” van Gaalen said.
The acquisition is part of H2O Innovation’s broader strategy to expand its portfolio of water treatment technologies and provide integrated solutions across the sector.
