
The BC Water and Waste Association (BCWWA) announced the winners of the “Best of the Best” B.C. & Yukon Tap Water Taste Test at its 2025 Annual Conference & Trade Show.
Communities won in three divisions:
- Division 1: Large Water System (Populations over 100,000)
- Winner: Capital Regional District
- Division 2: Medium Water System (Populations 2,500 – 24,999)
- Winner: District of Hope
- Division 3: Small Water System (Populations 2,500 or less)
- Winner: Town of Qualicum Beach
In all, 12 communities and regions from across the province joined in this year’s Tap Water Taste Test: Capital Regional District, City of Burnaby, City of Coquitlam, District of Squamish, District of Hope, City of Rossland, Town of Ladysmith, District of Lillooet, Village of McBride, Phantom Creek Estate Winery (Oliver), District of Qualicum Beach and District of Sparwood.
According to BCWWA, “the competition is held to raise awareness of the importance of our water systems in protecting public health and the environment.”

BCWWA extended its thanks to the panel of judges who participated in the challenge: Mayor Marianne Alto, City of Victoria; Christine Spitzley, vice president at American Water Works Association (AWWA) and principal at OHM Advisors; Paul Schuler, WEF representative and senior strategic advisor/senior vice president at Carollo Engineers; and Robert Haller, executive director at Canadian Water & Wastewater Association (CWWA).
