As Canada works toward its goal of increasing manufacturing sales and exports 50% by 2030, VEGA Instruments Canada says it’s expanding across the country to help manufacturers modernize and remain competitive.

The company reports that its headcount has increased by more than 20% over the past six months, and now has employees in every province. VEGA, which manufactures sensors for level, point level and pressure measurement, along with related devices and software, says it’s positioning itself to support Canadian manufacturers facing growing pressure to adopt new technologies, improve productivity and address a shortage of digitally-skilled workers.

According to a May 2026 report from Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, the country’s manufacturing sector continues to face stalled growth, uneven technology adoption and rising demand for skilled labour. National targets in the report call for manufacturing sales to reach $1 trillion and exports to climb to $540 billion by 2030.

The report also states that Canada’s manufacturing sector employs some 1.7 million people, comprising 10% of the Canadian workforce. Two goals in the report are to fill 60,000 advanced manufacturing jobs as needed in the next 10 years, as well as to add 24,000 jobs for women in manufacturing in the next three years.
